Angela Ferreira

Angela Ferreira is a Portuguese artist established in Cardiff, Wales. From an early age, she has loved to travel. Many of the countries she has experienced have had a strong influence on her works. But she says it is the green valleys and the magical atmosphere of Wales in particular that inspire her to create ever more fantastic paintings of dream-like 'wonderlands'. It is through these imaginative paintings that she expresses her journeys within distant lands and exotic cultures, with a little bit of
surrealism mixed in.

Angela has lived and studied in the USA where she won a School Art Award for outstanding achievement and her work is being published in the next Spring Issue 2007 of National Geographic School books across USA.

Angela's paintings seem to be telling a story, a fairytale... Her goal is to bring cultures together, transmit good inner feelings, positive energy and to take your eyes on a journey to a different imaginative world.

Artist Statement:

"The subconscious reflects on my paintings about life at the moment, my fears, my desires, my hidden thoughts. I get surprised with the outcome sometimes, it strikes me and it is beyond my explanation!"

The object-driven touch: Robert Wechsler

What can we control?
What is the part of reality that is actually controllable?
Say, when we take things in our hands.

Applied Geometry (2004)
There is a point where reality simply will not be tampered with. It says only so much.
And the beautiful thing is when someone manages to feel this point and use it, changing the vectors, but keeping the power, the energy, the impulse that the world drives through us.
Does that sound esoteric?
Sanctuary (2005)
What is the fish doing in the church? What is the Holy water doing around the fish? Within the fish? It is all here, and the transgression is only a small part of the game. The name Sanctuary, to me, is not ironic. It is playful, yet strong.

Where do we go from here?
Zebra Print (2006) (H .75"x L 1.25")

Here?

Good work, Robert Wechsler.
